from Halloween 2009 Ideas and Costumes!

Children love to dress up in pirate costumes. If you are planning to have a fancy dress party for kids then this would make a very popular theme for it. You might think that it will limit things a little by just organizing it around pirates but it will actually prove to make it all a lot easier. Instead of having to cater for so many different things, absolutely everything to do with your party can hinge on the swashbuckling theme.

If you have more than one child of your own then you have already solved several problems. You are not going to have to think of ideas for what your children are going to wear. If you are just sticking to pirate costumes then it will make it a lot simpler. As long as each of your children is happy with their outfit then you are onto a winner.

Depending on the amount of work that you are prepared to do (and if you have someone who is going to help), there are all sorts of activities that will fit around the theme of pirates costumes. As far as the children are concerned, if they are dressed up in pirate costumes then they want to behave like buccaneers.

Organizing a treasure hunt for all of the children to take part in would be a great idea. Kids love things like this and it will keep them all occupied for quite a while. You could perhaps design some treasure maps on your computer and print them off beforehand. They don’t have to be anything too elaborate as long as they are going to fit in with the rest of the party. You could even tie them all up with sashes and give them to the kids to wear on the belts of their pirate costumes until it is time to look for the treasure.

Plastic swords are very reasonably priced and would look great when worn with their pirate costumes. It might be a good idea to have some ‘organized’ sword-fight though. If a few children are left alone with plastic weapons without a little supervision then it is only a matter of time before one of them is wounded… Perhaps, to avoid any squabbles, you can have some proper contests for them where they are able to show off their swordsmanship to the fore.

If you have your children’s’ party in the summer then another idea would be to have some themed games in the back garden. With a bit of imagination, you can soon adapt some ordinary children’s activities into something that is more in keeping with pirate costumes. Perhaps you have a sandpit where you can bury some ‘treasure’. The kids will love to dig away hoping to be first to find it, especially if they don’t even know what it is that they are looking for.

With a little thought and planning (and minimal outlay) you can easily create a whole afternoon of fun that everyone will thoroughly enjoy.

The “trick or treat” day is one fun filled day wherein we can get total strangers to give us candy or money. The sheer amount of fun and frolic on that day is one unforgettable experience.

One of the costumes which is well suited to emphasize the “trick” aspect would be the Samurai costume. After all, what better costume than that of a warrior to get the message home and that too a traditionally feared warrior?

The ability to stick out of the crowd is what can make a difference in getting the best treat, and one excellent option can be the samurai dress, which not only is different compared to the regular devils, or elves or spooky creatures, but also can emphasize that it is better to go for the treat option.

Considering that Halloween falls during the winter season, it is best to choose dress material that is a bit thick to protect from the cold.

There are a variety of Samurai costumes to choose from depending on what you would like to portray.

The basic dress is the satin Kimono which traditionally is made of two layers. The kimono can have Japanese figures painted on it or even a dragon spewing fire.

For children maybe a suitable jacket with matching elastic pants and drawings would be more suitable.

On this the Happi coat or the vest with shimmering colors of green or orange will go on to add an effect of glamour and power. The effects can be heightened by the use of different colors along the edges.

The next would be the sash, in a dual color for example Purple and red. Of course the choice can be best left to individual tastes.

Depending on the preference the head piece or cap can be combined with a face scarf to highlight the masked effect. Where the person prefers to have the face exposed, a fancy long and drooping moustache can give a weird effect to the Warrior image. One can also choose to wear a mask in order to make the intire costume a bit more realistic. Beard can be painted directly on the skin if you do not have a mask.

The Wig with pony tail is a necessary accessory. The pony tail can either be bunched up or knotted with a rope and stick on the top or can be left to hang loosely behind. Either way the effects can be enhanced by coloring the wig,

The warrior sword with sheath hanging on the back side. The ultimate fear factor! Of course the sword will be made of card! Such samurai swords can often times be bought in regular toy stores and halloween shops. Otherwise do a quick search online and you will have no troubles finding one. Most often, however, samurai costumes are bought as a set with the sword included.

Rounding off the costume would be the socks and the sandals! I guess it will only be treating; no one would dare to go for a trick!

At SamuraiCostume.com you can learn more about the traditional samurai clothing as well as finding ideas for halloween. The Samurai Costume is a fun & cool halloween outfit well suited for both children and adults. So go to Samurai Costume if you need the perfect halloween costume.

Halloween is around the corner and you need a costume you can have a good time in, and maybe win a best costume prize. At least that was the situation I was in. So I shopped around town, found some decent costume and party stores and could not believe how poor the selection was.

What happened to the classics? Where was spiderman, batman and superman costumes? Any of the classics that I could find looked like pajamas the super heros might wear. And any outfits that did look decent were far overpriced and would be far too uncomfortable to wear for an entire evening.

What was I going to do now, I thought to myself. And then it came to me, where do I find the solution to 90 percent of my problems? The Internet.

The search begins and like shopping around the stores in town I was finding the same crap at slightly reduced price but with the shipping cost it would end up being just as expensive. Back to square one.

After searching for a few days I changed up my search to be more specific to a costume I had in mind and I found it. A place that made exactly what I was looking for and for an excellent price. The only thing that I was hesitant about was the shipping cost but the site gave me different options of shipping and even had a bundle up and save on the shipping cost option.

I took the plunge and ordered a costume for myself and my wife. The costumes arrived about a week later and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and workmanship that went into the products. Any time I need a costume or some one asks me where I got mine I tell them with confidence where to go and how happy I am with the product. The costume looks awesome and there were tons of people who wanted to pose for pictures with me.

Halloween (also spelled Hallowe’en) is a holiday celebrated on October 31.

It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints’ Day. It is largely a secular celebration, but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.[1][2][3] Irish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America during Ireland’s Great Famine of 1846.[4]

The day is often associated with orange and black, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o’-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o’-lanterns, pranking people, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies.

Halloween costumes are worn on 31th October of every year in the Halloween holiday originating from the Celtic pagan holiday of Samhain (in Christian time, the eve of all saints day). The wearing of costumes and masks style goes back to the Celtic tradition which tried to copy the spirits. The popular of Halloween costumes started in USA around 1900s. The 1st mass produced Halloween costumes appeared in the store in 1930s.

Halloween costumes are different from costumes in other festival because they will be designed to imitate supernatural and scary beings. Traditional costumes will make as vampires, ghosts, skeletons, witches and devils but in more recent years, there were as science fiction-inspired characters as aliens, superheroes and pop culture figures like presidents, athletes, celebrities or film, television, cartoon character. Moreover, the very modern design like sexy and revealing costumes is popular to build the Halloween atmostphere joyful, delight and more happiness in this occassion.

We have one little boy that’s six years old and an adorable set of twins, 10 months. We decided we wanted to dress the babies up for halloween, even though they are a bit young. We always take our son out on that holiday and then we visit our family so they can see him all dressed up. This year we have two more to deck out in halloween garb. The costume we bought our son last year seem to fall apart before we even covered the first street. First the sash on his ninja outfit tore off and then the pants ripped down the side. It cost us much more than it was worth. For the price we paid it should have at least lasted through one night. I figured this year we would skip the local costume stores and try finding something online.

I found all kinds of childrens and costumes for babies. My little son was so excited when I showed him all the choices there were for him to choose from. He must have changed his little mind a dozen times. He liked the pirates and all the super heroes. It was hard for him to pick only one costume. With so many costumes to choose from it was just a little too overwhelming for a six year old. We just let him go on and on choosing and changing his mind for a while.We just let him pick out as many costumes as he wanted. When we finally agreed on the baby costumes for the twins, we made things easier for our son to pick his. We did run into a little trouble when it came to choosing a baby costume for the twins.] My husband and I was having a bit of a problem agreeing on the baby costumes. I thought the baby bunting costumes were the best for them. But my husband had other baby costume ideas. So we had a little disagreement going on. He thought the buntings looked too much like newborn baby costumes.

So, we agreed that I would choose the babies costume for our little girl and he would handle our sons. Our baby boy became Woody from toy story, as my husbands choice. I picked out of the babies costumes an adorable little lady bug bunting costume, for our little girl. Our six year old finally decided on a spiderman costume this year. He really looked so cute in his little outfit. As soon as spiderman popped up in the costume selection, my son was done shopping. Spiderman is his favorite super hero. It’s his main cartoon show to watch. So, of course he’s thrilled to dress up like Spiderman.

Each one of our children had a halloween costume coming soon. I was anxious for delivery so I could see what the kids would looked like in them. I want lots of pictures of the kids in costumes this year.

We put in our order for halloween props and house decorations too. We really went all out on home decorations for halloween this time. We do like to decorate for halloween and this is a chance we couldn’t pass up. There were so many cool ideas for props, like a crawling hand, a hanging ghoul and more. The halloween party supplies were just as inexpensive as the costumes we ordered. That really made my husband a happy camper. He loves to decorate for the holidays. We ordered a pumpkin that blinks on and off and the twins can’t take their eyes off it. They are just fascinated with it.

Well, our halloween order was delivered. They were super accessories and costumes. They were very prompt with the delivery. The costumes made the kids look so adorable. Going online to find halloween costumes and decorations was the best idea we’ve ever had.

Come to the only affordable Halloween costume store in the industry. Select from a range of best Halloween costumes for every body from adults to kids.

In a year marked by some shocking celebrity deaths, Halloween feels even more macabre.

One of the spookiest aspects of Halloween 2009 is its heavy reliance on recent obituaries, most notably the passing of the King of Pop.

“When you go to a party there will be a person dressed as Michael Jackson, no doubt,” said Jalem Getz, president and CEO of Buyseasons Inc., the parent company of BuyCostumes.com.

Searches for the costume, which generally includes tight black pants, a leather jacket and, of course, a glittering glove, have gone up more than a 1000%, according to Getz.

Other popular dead celebrity costumes include Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon and infomercial pitchman Billy Mays.

Heath Ledger-inspired Joker costumes, as well as the Dark Knight, may also reappear this year.

Meanwhile, diehard Twilight and True Blood fans have breathed new life into classic vampire attire, and reality celebs John and Kate Gosselin will likely be well represented on the trick or treat circuit.

“People like to be current,” Getz said of the current top choices. And no matter how grim, “we don’t judge our customers,” he added.

Also trendy this year? Saving money. According to the National Retail Federation’s 2009 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, total Halloween spending is estimated to fall 18% to $4.75 billion, down from $5.77 billion last year.

Robert McCorkle, the manager of costumes at NY-based costume retailer Abracadabra, says that instead of buying packaged costumes, more people are piecing together looks with accessories and clothes from their closet, particularly when it comes to 60s, 70s and 80s costumes.

But that mentality has taken a noticeable bite out of costume retailers’ bottom lines, including Abracadabra’s. “Last year we were doing good around this time, with $5,400 at the end of the day, this year it’s more like $3,200 to $3,400,” McCorkle said of their daily revenue.

“The economy has caught up to Halloween this year,” Tracy Mullin, president and CEO of the National Retail Federation, said in a statement. “Since retailers know that Americans will be looking to celebrate on a budget, there’s no doubt we will see creative costume and decorating ideas in every price point imaginable.”

The report found that the average consumer plans to spend $56.31 on Halloween merchandise this year, down from $66.54 in 2008.

Consumers plan to spend an average of $20.75 on costumes, which includes children’s and pets’ costumes, $17.99 on candy, $14.54 on decorations and $3.02 on greeting cards.

If not the first, Halloween is the second biggest holiday being celebrated in the United States. It’s been a U.S. tradition to throw some big parties and put on scary costumes and masks every 31st of October. The tradition hasn’t been broken despite of economic downturn, simply because Halloween is one of the times that people can be goofy and have fun.

Halloween costumes, goodies, decors, lamps and statues are just some of the items that people are spending on every Halloween. But, how can you actually find some totally cool Halloween costumes? According to party experts, one great way is to search for last year’s Halloween costumes. Isn’t it really cool? I don’t think so, not all!

How to find totally cool Halloween costumes is a big question, especially for those who religiously attend Halloween parties.

You may find cool Halloween costumes by watching out what’s hot. You’ll know it’s hot when people are really digging on it. Check out latest fashion magazines to see what celebrities are wearing, listening and talking about.

What is cool really depends on a person’s preferences and opinions. Some people think that “sexy” clothes are the coolest for Halloween. Others think what’s cool is to dress funny costumes that will give everybody a good laugh. What’s cool could be any ideas that spark your interest.

Of course a lot of skimpy outfits could be funny, but some may not get any laughs, just looks. However, you decide to go about the Halloween costume idea, put your own spin on it and make sure to just have fun!

For me, the coolest Halloween costumes are those movie-themed Halloween costumes. GI Joe, X-men, Alice in Wonderland and Twilight are just some of the movies that people are talking about this year. For sure, dressing as Bumble Bee or Optimus Prime would be a hit.

It’s not always the best approach to try to be cool for Halloween or any occasion. Checking out who’s wearing what, who’s listening to what and what’s being talked about could really give you some really cool Halloween costume ideas.

Find some cool Halloween costume ideas now.

Buying Your Costume New
New halloween costume shopping is a fun experience, and the best place to look for your new costume is on the Web. There are many retailers to choose from, and you want to buy from a halloween costume store that has a good reputation and a large number of choices. The main advantage of purchasing a costume via the internet, is price and selection.

Local costume and novelty shops are a secondary way to pick up a halloween costume. They won’t have quite the selection as an internet retailer, but should have a good basic stock of costumes, masks, and props. You may feel more comfortable buying a costume locally, since it is easier to return than buying from the web.

Buying Your Costume Used
A used halloween costume can be a great value, and if you are strapped for cash might be the way to go. If you develop a costume idea, and make a list of the items you need to complete your ensemble, you can probably find the pieces to create an entire costume with little effort.

Good places to find used costumes are:

* Thrift Store
* Flea Market
* Garage Sales
* Friends or Relatives
* Coworkers
* Newspaper Ads
* Online Auction Sites

Make sure to inspect the quality of the costume, and if you are buying it from the internet or an online auction, get as many detailed photos as possible, and try and get a money back guarantee. Used costumes are a great idea since you may only be wearing the costume one time.

Renting a Costume
Costume rentals is another option you have when preparing for halloween. At the same place where you can buy a new costume locally, it is possible that they offer rentals.
Many times you have to put down a deposit, and the charge for renting the costume depends on how long you intend to have it, and how the time of season. During the halloween season, for example, you can expect to pay more for a costume than any other time of the year.

With the cheap prices of costumes on the internet, we recommend that you just buy one. You can always resell it later if you never use it again, or pass it on to friends and relatives. Renting a halloween costume is an option though, and we wanted to make you aware of it.

Making Your Own Costume
If your a hobbyist, or good at arts and crafts, you may enjoy the satisfaction of creating your very own halloween costume from scratch. All it takes is some imagination, and a little bit of work to produce an original costume.

You may already have a costume in mind, but if not, here are some tips when making your own costume:
* Develop an idea for the halloween costume first, and then look around your house to see if you may have everything you need to make it
* Make a list of materials that you need that have to be bought for the costume. This will save money by sticking to a budget and plan
* When making kids halloween costumes, make sure that they are safe for their age group, and make them visible at night
* Try and be original, the whole point of making your own costume is to stand out and be different

Here are some great ideas for Halloween crafts
The only bad Halloween craft project is the Halloween craft project that takes too long. You know the ones. The craft projects that have so many steps that you’ve lost the attention of your kids before step 2. Give these easy Halloween craft ideas a try. They’re short; they’re sweet; they’re fun and the end results are spooktacular.

Antenna CharactersThese adorable characters look great at the top of your automobile antenna. Hey, if your house is dressed up for Halloween, why shouldn’t your car? With various Halloween-themed colors of flat fun foam (orange, black, white, green), draw a light outline of a pumpkin, ghost, spider or Frankenstein head, approximately 4-inches tall and 3-inches wide. Cut out the shapes and with a single hole punch, punch two holes in each shape, one approximately one inch from the top of the shape and another hole approximately one inch from the bottom of the shape.

With glitter glue or permanent markers, decorate the shape with facial features, an outline or anything you’d like. Allow to dry thoroughly. Once dried, you can attach to your automobile antenna by placing the antenna through the bottom hole from the back of the shape to the front. Then place the antenna through the top hole, front to back. The Antenna Character should be secure and should withstand normal driving conditions.

Halloween MosaicsMosaic art using tiles is very popular nowadays. Kids can duplicate this popular craft using construction paper instead of tiles or glass.
Prior to gathering the children around the table, cut small squares of various colors of paper, orange, red, blue, yellow, white, black, green, etc.

On a piece of heavy stock, white paper, draw the outline of a pumpkin, Frankenstein or other Halloween character.
With a small dab of all-purpose glue on the back of each square, kids can mosaic their way to a uniquely creative masterpiece that can be framed and hung on the wall for many Halloween seasons to come.

Pumpkin PaintingIn less than one hour, you and your child can create the most adorable pumpkin craft ready to proudly display in your home. Pumpkin Painting is the perfect activity for little goblins who aren’t old enough to handle the jack-o-lantern carving duties.

With simple supplies like acrylic paints, markers, newspaper and sealer, kids can paint whimsical, silly faces on their pumpkins. Or they can paint their favorite cartoon character, Halloween motif or harvest design. Painted pumpkins do not rot near as quickly as carved pumpkins so it is much more economical to paint pumpkins rather than carving them and it’s also much safer and more hands-on for toddlers since there is no knife involved.

When adults get dressed up, they quite often like to stick to a theme – everyone at the party dresses according to theme or perhaps a couple will dress in matching adults costumes of some kind. Historical costume like renaissance dress costumes or Medieval outfits are also popular with grown ups. Or “decade” adults costumes – flappers from the Roaring 20’s or a 40’s zoot suit. One difference between kids costumes and adults costumes is that adults often put together their own outfit, with more attention to the details. Kids are quite happy with a cheap shop bought costume. Adults costumes can get quite detailed – something that would be right at home on a movie set. Attention to detail is common with cosmetics and masks frequently being used. With the current popularity of Renaissance fairs, it’s no wonder that traditional Renaissance dress costumes are equally popular. Not only reserved for the fair workers and those who attend them, Renaissance dress costumes also make charming additions to Halloween and costume parties. So, what are the basics that encompass the Renaissance period?. The era spanned over a long period of time and the costumes largely depended on the specific year, social standing, and the country. So it is one thing to decide that you want to dress in traditional Renaissance dress costumes and another to understand exactly which type of Renaissance dress costume you would like. In addition, you have a few options in obtaining a costume. If your main purpose is to attend a Renaissance fair, you may want to contact the fair itself to see where they suggest you get the costumes. Some have a booth where they sell the costumes or if you want to rent, you may be able to do it at the fair or they can suggest a shop nearby that will accommodate. If you are a frequent attendee of the fair, you may want to consider obtaining your own Renaissance dress costumes. If you want to wear your Renaissance dress costumes to a costume party or for Halloween, you may not need to worry so much about authenticity. At the fairs, more people will probably scrutinize your outfit. At a costume party, you are probably just looking for something that is fun and will look great. In this case, you can take dressing up in a Renaissance dress costume as far as you want it.You can find Renaissance dress costumes at Renaissance fairs, and at costume shops. You can also find them at online auction sites or at online costume stores. Of course, there is also the possibility of making your own from a pattern you design or purchase. Keep in mind that if you do decide to purchase your own adults costumes they can get expensive. Some people specialize in making authentic, home sewn Renaissance dress costumes. If you choose to purchase one of these, you will certainly end up with a striking outfit. The only drawback is that it may cost a lot more than you were expecting to pay.
