from Halloween 2009 Ideas and Costumes!

If not the first, Halloween is the second biggest holiday being celebrated in the United States. It’s been a U.S. tradition to throw some big parties and put on scary costumes and masks every 31st of October. The tradition hasn’t been broken despite of economic downturn, simply because Halloween is one of the times that people can be goofy and have fun.

Halloween costumes, goodies, decors, lamps and statues are just some of the items that people are spending on every Halloween. But, how can you actually find some totally cool Halloween costumes? According to party experts, one great way is to search for last year’s Halloween costumes. Isn’t it really cool? I don’t think so, not all!

How to find totally cool Halloween costumes is a big question, especially for those who religiously attend Halloween parties.

You may find cool Halloween costumes by watching out what’s hot. You’ll know it’s hot when people are really digging on it. Check out latest fashion magazines to see what celebrities are wearing, listening and talking about.

What is cool really depends on a person’s preferences and opinions. Some people think that “sexy” clothes are the coolest for Halloween. Others think what’s cool is to dress funny costumes that will give everybody a good laugh. What’s cool could be any ideas that spark your interest.

Of course a lot of skimpy outfits could be funny, but some may not get any laughs, just looks. However, you decide to go about the Halloween costume idea, put your own spin on it and make sure to just have fun!

For me, the coolest Halloween costumes are those movie-themed Halloween costumes. GI Joe, X-men, Alice in Wonderland and Twilight are just some of the movies that people are talking about this year. For sure, dressing as Bumble Bee or Optimus Prime would be a hit.

It’s not always the best approach to try to be cool for Halloween or any occasion. Checking out who’s wearing what, who’s listening to what and what’s being talked about could really give you some really cool Halloween costume ideas.

Admit it, you’re one of those people who are too worried about dressing up in a costume during Halloween because you immediately think about how stupid you might look. To a lot of people Halloween is that time of the year to dress either amazingly or embarrassingly. In other words it’s a hit or miss prospect. This might be true, but only if you’re planning to dress up like a ghost or a clown. That’s because dressing up for Halloween doesn’t have to involve white make up, a red nose and big shoes, or a white long dress and brown paper bag with two holes. With a little dash of resourcefulness and awareness of characters in mainstream media, you can find some great costume ideas that will keep you looking attractive and confident.

People in uniform

This may be an unimaginative and safe bet, but it’s a sure-fire way to look attractive. Considering that women swoon over men in uniform such as soldiers and firemen due to oozing masculinity, it’s no secret that dressing up in any uniform is a good way to go during Halloween parties. This applies to women as well. Women can take advantage of the fact that men can’t keep their eyes off the outfits of cheerleaders, school girls and nurses, to name just a few.

Pop Culture

Imitating characters portrayed by celebrities is another great costume idea. Just think of famous movie characters and popular media personalities in pop culture. There are plenty of fantastic options for you. Dressing up like Austin Powers, for example, won’t disappoint because the International Man of Mystery will never go out of style. Or, you could also dress up as a pirate from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Since ladies love Captain Jack Sparrow, dressing up as him would definitely spice things up a bit. The possibilities are endless. You can dress up as a gangster, a cowboy, as Zorro, or The Joker portrayed by the late Heath Ledger.

Sports idols

This is perhaps the easiest of all options due to its simplicity and availability. You can easily purchase the required clothing from any nearby sporting goods store. Plus there are so many kinds of sports out there and hundreds of renowned athletes, making your job of picking one out so much easy. From American football to European soccer, wear your favorite athlete’s jersey coupled with all the appropriate accessories such as helmets, bands, and shoes, and pray that you would be able to spot a woman in the party with the same idea and dressed as Maria Sharapova.

Cultural and traditional costumes

Just like sports attires, you can’t go wrong with traditional costumes because you’re absolutely sure people will recognize your outfit. If someone doesn’t, you’re either doing it wrong or the person’s a space alien. It’s easy to do too; just pick a time period like the ‘60s or ‘80s, and dress up like they did at that time. For instance, you can dress like the 1930s gangster outfit like Al Capone or John Dillinger. Or, you can also opt for something more exciting such as the ‘70s leisure suits or ‘80s ultra tight black leather tops and pants. GP

Halloween is almost near and by now many are excited for it. The last thing you want is to be caught up in a rush planning parties and festivities. You want to be prepared as much as possible to be sure that the Halloween celebration turns out fun, not nightmarish.

Planning what recipes to prepare is a vital aspect when getting ready for the Halloween. There’s a long list of delicious recipes worth trying but you’d also want to jazz it up by making it spooky.

But don’t fret just yet. A scary recipe doesn’t always have to scare your party guests off. There are many fun ways to come up with gross but unbelievably sumptuous Halloween dishes.

Cooking up Halloween recipes shouldn’t be a difficult task for you. With some creativity, you easily turn easy, ordinary dishes into new and exciting ones that are fit for the holiday.

The key to creating unforgettable Halloween recipes is its preparation. No need to plan complicated, avant-garde recipes. Always make your dishes simple. It’s the zest you add to it that makes the difference. Take advantage of food colorings – they are perfect for turning ordinary dishes into real Halloween courses.

Give a new name to go with the presentation too. Don’t know how? Come up with something your party guests won’t even think to eat. For instance, you might want to cook up a chicken wings recipe but name it ‘bat wings’ or label a simple chili bean recipe as ‘beetle bug stew’. Serving stuffed olives as appetizer? How about calling them ‘eyeballs’ instead?

Your simple chips and dips can also be renamed into ‘foot flakes’ or ‘gooey snot’ or even ‘bloody salsa’. Let your imagination run deep and wild. The possibilities are endless!

Want to cook up gross-looking dessert? Try making poop or worm cake! Try and decorate chocolate bars on your cake to look like poo or red gummy worms and make it look as if it were the real thing.

Lastly, create more kick to your drinks. Add sherbert to your usual lime drink, allow it to melt and see it look like scummy water. You can make a slushy out of it and top it with gummy worms and insects. Making a smoothie? Add red food coloring to it and make your party guests believe they’re gulping on blood. The list just goes on and on.

The spirit of Halloween is all about fun and excitement. Whether it’s trick-or-treating or having that great party with your family & friends, always try and make the most out of your holidays. The spirit of Halloween lies in its celebration. After all, it only happens once every year, so try and loosen up, have fun and celebrate.

Halloween, that much-anticipated day when you can dress as your favorite character no matter what your age, requires days of preparation. You want to stand out in the regular crowd of vampires, the Adams Family, cowboys and cowgirls, and nursery rhyme characters. Since movie themes have become popular over the past two decades, why not take it forward and dress as your favorite movie legend? And since the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been so successful, how about imitating the legend – Jack Sparrow – himself. Or order adult pirate costumes/child pirate costumes modeled on one of his crew.

Costumes For Children

If you plan to buy child pirate costumes for your tot, there are many options available to you. You can buy trousers, scarves, and jerseys for your kid. Many costume stores also sell braids, beads, eye patches, and hats for kids. Other accessories to go with child pirate costumes include headbands, swords, and jewelry. Kids’ accessories are adjustable, thanks to the flexible elastic bands attached to them. For a cute effect, you can even order a tiny mustache. Boots in polished black or tan leather go well with the costume. If you are sure the child will not trip over, you can even have him or her sling a little sword by their side.

Costumes For Adults

Pirates of the old days were often a motley crew put together by a dominant leader. This ragtag bunch was drawn from many countries, and each brought in their own dressing style to the ship. Since they were mostly criminals or poor people before joining the ship, the crew dressed in whatever they could lay their hands on, which accounts for the many accessories and styles available to the aspiring Halloween pirate today. Adult pirate costumes for men include the regular vests, trousers, and boots. How you create “the look” depends on the accessories you choose – eye patches, cutlasses, swords, boots, bandanas, belts, false gold tooth, curved hats, and in some cases, a faux parrot to sit on your shoulder. Women too have a delectable variety to choose from, depending on whether they want the tough, adventurous, saucy, naughty, girly, or no nonsense look. Buckled shoes, skirts, stockings, ruffs, coin necklace – it just could not get any better!
